Berczy Settlers' Gazette is now published twice yearly.

The Berczy Settlers' Gazette is an excellent resource for information on William Berczy, the Berczy Settlers, their descendants and the activities of the Markham Berczy Settlers Association. Volume 19 Number 2, August 2011 issue has been published The index is up-to-date and has been divided into 10 pages. An index to the interesting and informative articles has been provided.

German Pioneers' Day - 1st Tuesday after Thanksgiving

3 p.m. at Markham & District Museum - Tour of the Collections Building and New Exhibits located on Highway 48, just north of 16th Avenue and across the road from MacDonalds. Enter through the new glass doors. They have the new exhibits in place and we can get to have a look at the Archives.

7 p.m. at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Unionville - Annual Meeting

Annual General Meeting 2009

Some of the members attended part of the Town of Markham Council Meeting as part of German Pioneers' Day. Lorne Smith, Town Historian, spoke briefly of the contributions of the Germans to the region. He introduced representatives of several German heritage organizations in the area.

At 8 p.m. the group held its annual meeting at the Bethesda Lutheran Church, Unionville. Directors were elected for the coming year. Bob Shank, retired as co-president of the organization. Janet Iles,became President of the organization.

Bob Stiver spoke about the Stiver Mill Restoration project. The original owners of the mill were brothers, Francis and Charles Stiver (descendants of John Nicholas Stiver, one of the original Berczy settlers.)

Celebration 2004
The Markham Berczy Settlers celebrated 210 years in Markham in 2004 with Berczy Settlers Family Research Days. It was a very successful week. Members of the Board were present to help participants. There was an exchange of information among those who attended. Tuesday, July 6, and Wednesday July 7, Our Ancestors' Stories were presented by Bob Shank and Lorne Smith. On Thursday, July 8 a group toured the area. Friday July 9 we had a tour and lecture on William Berczy and his Painting by curator Katarina Atanassova at the Varley Gallery. Saturday, July 10, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. was the Annual General Meeting of the Markham Berczy Settlers Association. Sunday, July 11, 2004 Bethesda Lutheran Cemetery many attended the Anniversary Church Service of Bethesda Lutheran Church.
