3 p.m. at Markham & District Museum - Tour of the Collections Building and New Exhibits located on Highway 48, just north of 16th Avenue and across the road from MacDonalds. Enter through the new glass doors. They have the new exhibits in place and we can get to have a look at the Archives.
7 p.m. at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Unionville - Annual Meeting
Other News Annual General Meeting 2009 Some of the members attended part of the Town of Markham Council Meeting as part of German Pioneers' Day. Lorne Smith, Town Historian, spoke briefly of the contributions of the Germans to the region. He introduced representatives of several German heritage organizations in the area. At 8 p.m. the group held its annual meeting at the Bethesda Lutheran Church, Unionville. Directors were elected for the coming year. Bob Shank, retired as co-president of the organization. Janet Iles,became President of the organization. Bob Stiver spoke about the Stiver Mill Restoration project. The original owners of the mill were brothers, Francis and Charles Stiver (descendants of John Nicholas Stiver, one of the original Berczy settlers.)
